Luigi's Mansion 2
Luigi's Mansion 2 (Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon in US versions) is an action adventure game developed by Next Level Games on March 24, 2013, which was made as the first Luigi-themed game in the 'Year of Luigi', which was made as a celebration for 30 years since Luigi's debut. It has only been released on the Nintendo 3DS. The game involves the player controlling the character Luigi, who has been sent by Professor E. Gadd to explore five different mansions while trying to find pieces of the Dark Moon, a purple crystal which floats in the sky, which gives a pacifying effect on the ghosts in Evershade Valley (where the game will take place). However, an unknown villain has shattered the Dark Moon, causing the pieces to fall near the several mansions, while also making the ghosts (who were working as Gadd's assistants) hostile, as they were incredibly friendly when the Dark Moon was in one piece. Now it's Luigi's job to use Gadd's new and improved Poltergust 5000, his Dark-Light Device and the Strobulb to capture ghosts and restore peace to Evershade Valley.
Plot:
The game starts with E. Gadd in his lab working on some machinery when a ghost sneaks up behind him. Luckily the ghost is friendly, so he just smiles. The camera shows other ghosts working on Gadd's other projects, enjoying their time. However, while this happens, an unknown villain flies near the Dark Moon, the pacifier for ghosts in Evershade Valley. He zaps the Dark Moon with some dark energy, causing the Dark Moon to break into six pieces and to be scattered around the valley. Then something in the ghosts snaps, and they become hostile, destroying everything in E. Gadd's lab. Gadd flees the scene. The clip then takes us to Luigi's house, where Luigi is sleeping on his sofa when Professor E. Gadd appears on his TV screen. He tells Luigi about the problem of the ghosts becoming hostile. Gadd then uses his Pixelshifter (Pixelator in US versions) to bring Luigi to Gadd's impenetrable Bunker, where the ghosts can't find him. Gadd tells Luigi about the Dark Moon mysteriously vanishing from the sky. He also shows Luigi a fragment of the Dark Moon, which he found near his Bunker when he was running from the ghosts. He tells Luigi that the other five pieces might be near the five mansions around the valley. The game then starts.
Ghosts:
Gloomy Manor:
The Gloomy Manor is the first mansion that Luigi explores in the game. It has been used by Professor E. Gadd as a research centre and a home for him. The mansion is also infested with spiders, are there are a lot of cobwebs around the manor.
Haunted Towers:
The Haunted Towers is the second mansion that Luigi visits. The mansion involves two tall towers that are built around a colossal tree. The mansion's late owners (the Three Sisters) had been using it as a greenhouse, filling it with exotic plants, which have been growing out of control and some have even broken down some of the mansion. The mansion's machinery is all powered by a series of complex water systems.
Old Clockworks:
The Old Clockworks is the oldest and third mansion that Luigi explores. The mansion is actually an old factory that once produced the world's finest clocks, watches and time measurement devices. The factory is also built in a desert and above an ancient archaeological site. The factory contains several gates with clocks on that have to be set to the correct time to be opened. Since this 'mansion' is the oldest of the five, it is the ghosts' favorite haunt.
Secret Mine:
The Secret Mine is the fourth mansion that Luigi explores. The mansion is set on top of a snowy mountain, and also on top of a secret mining operation developed by several geologists from an unknown company. The mine also contains several mines and a workshop which the geologists were developing several machines. The mines also contain lots of crystals that have strengthening properties.
Treacherous Mansion:
The Treacherous Mansion is the fifth and final mansion Luigi explores. The mansion is in a museum theme, containing several exotic exhibits made by the mansion's globetrotting late-owner. The mansion has also been given a scary makeover by King Boo and the mansion contains the strongest paranormal signals. The mansion is called 'treacherous' as it is built above a giant ravine, and the mansion could collapse into the ravine at any moment.
Thrill Tower (ScareScraper):
The Thrill Tower (ScareScraper in US versions) is an incredibly tall tower where the player can play with other ghost-hunters locally, through download-play and online. The player must complete each floor in the tower to get up to the next floor, and on every fifth floor there is a boss ghost lurking around. The tower's floors can be set to five floors, ten floors, twenty-five floors and endless floors. Every time the player completes five floors, the next set of five floors will make the ghosts have 5 more HP than last time. There are also a lot of different doors, including open, locked, blocked, fake and Gobber-gooed (doors that Gobbers can sometimes block with their goo) doors. When you enter a room with ghosts in, the room on the map will be black. The player will either immediately encounter them when they enter the room or they will have to examine a piece of moving furnture.
Game Modes:
Hunter - The hunter mode involves the player to capture all the ghosts on the floor they are on to proceed to the next floor.
Rush - The rush mode involves the player having 30 seconds to find a hatch in one of the many rooms on the floor. The player can also collect timepieces from rooms and ghosts which add 10 seconds to the player's time.
Polterpup - The polterpup mode involves the player trying to find, chase and catch Polterpups that have ran and hid somewhere on the floor.
Surprise - The surprise mode involves a random mixture of the past few game modes in one.

Thrill Tower Ghosts:
Gold Ghosts:
- Bomb Brothers These identical twin brothers sure have a blast playing with bombs!
- Scarab Nabber This ghost isn't exactly a people person. He gets downright grumpy when disturbed, and won't hesitate to "introduce" you to his beetle friends.
- Terrible Teleporter These twin sneakers are trouble with a capital T! Mess with them and you might end up being teleported out of the room! I learnt that the hard way.
- Primordial Goo This ancient ghost here is your chief Creeper. Be careful around this fellow, or you might get more than you bargained for!
- Creeper Creator An enormous ghost with the uncanny ability to produce other ghosts! I've never seen anything like it! I'd recommend ghost hunters deal with him in a group, just to be safe.
- Polterpup Normally very playful and kind, the Polterpups started misbehaving after the Dark Moon shattered.
- Big Polterpup This pooch is big, so it might take more than one ghost hunter to keep him under control!
- The Brain This ghost is the most evolved of all Boffins. He awaits ghost trackers who are both brave and smart enough to match his powers.
- Fright Knight Rumor has it that this Greenie is from the middle ages, where he was looking for a kidnapped princess. Sadly, wherever he went, she always seemed to be in another castle.
- Snug Thug Slammers are mainly known for their strength, but this one has enough brains to know that when it's cold, you need to wear a coat!
- Sleek Sneaker It seems this narcissistic ghost doesn't like turning invisible because it makes it harder for the other ghosts to be dazzled by his fashion sense.
- Tether Jacket At first I thought he was trying to attack me, but then I realized he just wanted me to try on his fancy jacket. He could have just asked...
- Spectral Sloth After a nice hot shower and with no other plans for the day, this Gobber slips right into his bathrobe and gets ready to lounge around. This ghost is living the dream.
- Blue Pimpernel I imagine he would have chosen green flowers instead of blue, but green flowers are surprisingly difficult to find. Who would've guessed?
- Sunflower Heh! The funny thing... heh heh... the funny thing is... he can't stand the sun! Ho ho! Oho! Hoooo... Is that irony? I never know if I'm using that word correctly.
- Pink Zinnia Whenever he appears, he's hard to miss!
- Violet When he's in puddle form, he looks like a little garden decorated with beautiful flowers. It's really breathtaking.... but not in a good way.
- Daisy When he's not hungry, he's probably as gentle as a freshly picked flower. Too bad we'll never know, though; this fellow has a bottomless stomach.
- Melon-choly Although this fellow looks like a big ol' melon, the vertical stripes have a slimming effect.
- Aweberry His favorite thing to do is to dip himself in mud and pretend it's chocolate. It's... odd, to say the least.
- Scorn This funny-looking ghost has kernels for teeth. I bet he wishes he could pop them all at once - if not to give people a big ol' fright, at least to get free popcorn at the movie theater.
- Fright Egg Eureka! This ghostly egg can reassemble itself once it's cracked!
- Terrorange Once he helped a farmer win a contest by pretending he was a gigantic orange. Don't ask me how I know that.
- Spooky Spook That's not a costume. He's just really retro.
- Scars Even though he's both a zombie and a ghost, he has fun and enjoys life to the fullest.
- Skoul On first impression, you might think this fellow is creepy, but once you get to know him... you know for sure.
- Jack-goo-Lantern It's always "trick or trick" with this guy! He seems to have conveniently forgotten the "treat" part. Sheesh!
- Blimp Reaper Instead of a scythe, he walks around with a giant roast turkey leg. Uh huh...
- Dreadonfly He doesn't have two pairs of wings. In fact, he doesn't have any wings. What good are wings on a ghost?
- Shadybird His name may have "bird" in it, but don't expect him to sing for you.
- Terrorfly Criminy! I didn't think something so small could be so... terrifying! The size-to-scare ratio of this little guy is off the charts!
- Blobberfly This ghost isn't anywhere near as graceful as a regular butterfly, or as harmless.
- Grumble Bee Instead of covering everything with goo, our stripey friend here prefers to splatter the walls and floors with honey. But be careful not to lick it! It'll make your tongue go numb.
- Horrorca Fascinating! This ghost appears to speak fluent Whale!
- Clown Fishy The reason this fellow is so angry is because people keep thinking clown fish are actual clowns. They're not. No sense of humor whatsoever. Didn't laugh at any of my jokes.
- Shriek Shark The entire time I've been observing him, this tough looking spook had been practicing swimming through the air like a shark. Still needs some work.
- Pondguin I tried to feed him some fish, but he wouldn't eat them. He just kept trying to scare them. It didn't work.
- Snapper This ghost would have you believe that he moves really slowly, but don't be fooled - it's just an act. Yep, this one's not just crafty, he's pretty swift too!
- Bad-minton He's not bad, per se. He's just... really mischievous.
- American Footbrawl I'd stay out of his way unless you want to get tackled. Nothing like a bit of protective padding to bring out your boisterous side.
- Tennis Menace Careful with this one! He's been known to sneak onto tennis courts midmatch and give the ball a good whack himself!
- Goolf The only thing he enjoys more than playing golf is creating "hazards" on the green.
- Ball Hog Whatever you do, don't try to pick him up or touch him with your hands! He hates that. Oddly, though, he doesn't seem to mind if you knock him around with your feet.
- Maligator Much like a real alligator, he hides under the water until someone steps a little too close.
- Banegal He tries to roar ferociously, but what comes out sounds more like an adorable kitty meowing. Don't tell him I said that.
- Zebrawl Between you and me, his striped camouflage seems a bit unnecessary considering he can turn invisible whenever he wants.
- Leoprank His hunting method is simple and effective; he waits until someone steps on him.
- Full Moo I don't recommend pouring this ghostly bovine's milk over your cereal. Trust me on this. I'm still cleaning up the mess.
